About the Department

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) in the Computer Science and Engineering offers a B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning). It was started initially with 30 intake from this session upgraded into 60 intake.This program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles and techniques of AI and ML, as well as hands-on experience in applying these technologies to real-world problems.Throughout the program, students will learn about the various subfields of AI and ML, including computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, deep learning, and others. They will study algorithms and techniques for machine learning and gain practical experience through laboratory work and projects.

The program is designed to be interdisciplinary and expertise from a variety of fields, including computer science, mathematics, and statistics. Students will have the opportunity to participate in research projects, both within the department and with other departments and institutions.Graduates of the B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) will have a deep understanding of the principles and practices of AI and ML, and will be prepared to work in a variety of industries and roles, including data analysis, software development, and research. They will be well-equipped to tackle challenging problems and contribute to the advancement of AI and ML.

In lieu with, Government of India stake, to transform the country's fastest growing economy under Al revolution, Asansol Engineering College, West Bengal has launched four years undergraduate program in Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning (Al & ML) since academic year 2021-22. The objective of this course is to ensure the challenging students graduating from this program secure job and, in this way, budding AIML technocrats shall be able to deploy Al in resolving primary societal needs at large through intelligent and secure systems, enabling data ecosystems and data analytics. AI & ML course will nurture and transform students into a highly skilled professional. According to a World Economic Forum's report, Al-enabled automation will generate 133 million new jobs globally by 2022.An AI & ML professional having experience of around five years is paid INR 40-50 LPA+. By 2025, more or less 80% enterprises will shift to operate using AI & MI. in the domain of analytics and infrastructure. This AI & ML course helps students to learn MATLAB, Python, R, ML, Deep Learning, NLP, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Cloud Computing and so on. Students will get hands-on exposure to industry-level assignments and projects with this top-notch AI & ML course. With this course, the aspiring engineers will be at the forefront of innovation and become the thought leaders and game changers the world needs. This course is affiliated by MAKAUT and approved by AICTE.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
